Le Clos Offers Rare Ne Oublie 1882 Port At Dubai International Airport
The fine wine and luxury spirits retailer, Le Clos, has announced its acquirement of the rare Graham’s Ne Oublie Port dating back to 1882, ahead of its travel retail showcase at Tax Free World Association (TFWA) in Cannes this month. As the exclusive retailer in the MENA region, Le Clos has ten bottles of only 656 in the world, each to be sold at $7,560.
To mark the launch in Dubai, Le Clos hosted a VIP event last night to showcase the unique port wine to key customers at La Serre restaurant, Vida hotel, Dubai. Privileged guests were shown a vertical of Graham’s tawny vintages from 1982 back to the Ne Oublie 1882 itself.
Oliver Dixon, Head of Fine Wine at Le Clos commented, “We are dedicated to our customers and to providing an unrivalled portfolio to travellers in the MENA region and beyond. To be able to offer an exquisite product of this rarity is an honour. To then have the opportunity to taste it with our customers is truly unique. The Ne Oublie is an unparalleled port wine and to say it was well appreciated by our guests would be an understatement.”
One of the three remaining barrels dating back 130 years was released by the Symington family in June this year. The family named the wine ‘Ne Oublie’ after the original Graham’s family motto and for the company where Andrew Symington started his life’s work. The other two remaining barrels have been entrusted to the next generation of the family and it is they who will decide their future, in 2025 at the earliest.
Paul Symington speaking on behalf of his family says: “It is very, very rare to be able to taste a port wine of such age and of such exquisite beauty. Ne Oublie has been a quiet 19th century witness to the passing of momentous and historic occasions that have shaped our world. We are immensely proud to be able to offer such an extraordinary memory and such an opportunity to see so far back in time and we are delighted that Ne Oublie will be available to a truly global audience situated at Le Clos and at the crossroads of the world.”
The extraordinary port wine has been bottled in an individually numbered, hand-made crystal decanter designed by Portugal’s leading glass manufacturer Atlantis. Three sterling silver bands, moulded and engraved by Scottish Silversmiths Hayward & Stott, and carrying the mark of the Edinburgh Assay Office, adorn the glass. The decanter is presented in a bespoke presentation box handcrafted with the finest leathers by quintessentially British brand Smythson of Bond Street, one of the world’s oldest luxury leather goods companies. Hence, Ne Oublie represents the work of the very finest artisans of the three nations from which the Symington family is descended: Scotland, England and Portugal.
