Le Clos launches a range of limited and extremely rare rums from the long-lost legendary Caroni distillery.
20th June 2023, Dubai, United Arab Emirates— Le Clos proudly announces the worldwide exclusive launch of the limited and highly sought-after Caroni rums, available at its airport boutiques. The range of fine rums is bottled by English bottler Bristol Spirits LTD, under the ownership of John Barrett. Bristol Spirits LTD advocates for rums in their purest forms, often centred on aged rums, that have been meticulously bottled in UK warehouses.
The Le Clos Dubai International Airport (DXB) boutiques have obtained one of the oldest and finest rums from the limited selection of Bristol Spirits, the Caroni 1997 and 1998 rums, that originates from the now-closed Caroni distillery in Trinidad & Tobago. The barrels were transported to England by Bristol Spirits LTD and carefully stored in John Barrett’s cellars in Gloucestershire. The UK’s colder and humid climate facilitates a slower maturation process, allowing the rum to develop organically in the reused wooden barrels.
Le Clos has especially successfully secured the rare and esteemed 1997-2019 ‘Classic Heavy Type Rum’ from Caroni. This extraordinary rum was distilled in 1997 using columns and matured for an impressive 22 years. Its cask strength of 56.4° features harmoniously blended aromas of oranges, lemons, vanilla, and toasted oak. A gentle hint of soft smoke fills the nose, creating a captivating experience that continues on the palate.
The remaining supply of many of the fine rums of Bristol Spirits, such as the Caroni 1997-2019, is highly limited, and once it’s digested, this exceptional rum will be gone forever. Le Clos now holds worldwide duty-free exclusivity on an exceptional selection of fine rums.

About Bristol Spirits
Bristol Spirits Ltd. aims to only source and bottle single still or single estate spirits. After careful maturation, all are then bottled at relatively high strength between 43% – 47%, which is considered by the Trade to be the optimum for tasting and enjoying fine spirits. Many of their Rums have been aged in specially selected casks, drawing on the different benefits woods such as Port, Maderia, ex-Bourbon white oak and new French oak bring.
